Google is looking out for a new way for web businesses to show image license metadata in the Google images. Google has recently launched a new structured data element which will allow Google to show the license information of the image. You will be able to see a “licensable” label that will have all the information of the image within the Google image search results. The update is yet to go live! Google says it is yet to go live but you can definitely get ready for it and start preparing your future content accordingly. There are two ways of how you can add the metadata; all you need to do is to give Google, the metadata that is eligible for the licensable badge and that can be done by any of the following: Structured data This talks of the connection between the image and the page where it leads, with the markup. You will always be required to add structured data. For every example, there must be an image, be it the same. IPTC photo metadata This is embedded into the image itself; the image and the metadata can move from one page to the other while they are still connected.
